The next CFSRC Colloquium is scheduled for 17-19 October, 2022. With papers already submitted from around the globe, speakers and participants can be assured that they will receive the latest updates in cold-formed steel research from leaders of the field. The stated goal of the Colloquium is to provide a forum for all research related to cold-formed steel structural engineering and related topics.
Submission: Researchers, please submit abstracts of your proposed papers on CFSRC website at this link. Submission will remain open until 1 May 2022.
Registration: Registration for the colloquium is now open, cost is $75 for speakers and $150 for attendees. Links for attending the online conference will only be provided to registered speakers and attendees.
Attendees will be able to listen and see the latest research, click through on the program to the accompanying paper, and contribute in real time to the ongoing conversations about the work being presented.
Conference Format: The conference will be conducted in a single track and provided online using Zoom.
A slack site will be made available for more casual conversation during breaks and following up with the speakers. (All registered attendees will receive an invite from Slack, registration for the Colloquium’22 is not open at this time.)
Speakers/authors: Thank you for being interested in sharing your work with the global cold-formed steel community. The deadline for the abstract submission is 1 May 2022 and the accepted papers will be announced by 1 June 2022. Final papers will be due on 1 September 2022. Presentations will be given over Zoom. Talks are 15 minutes total, 12-13 minute talk with 2-3 minutes of questions.
Attendees: Anyone interest in learning more about cold-formed steel and the latest innovations in cold-formed steel research are encouraged to attend! Simply register for the colloquium. Details for registration will be provided soon here. Certification of attendance will also be based on registered attendees.
Awards: Colloquium will include four student awards: Best Student Paper – Modeling Insights, Best Student Paper – Experimental Insights, Best Student Paper – Innovation/Creativity and Best Student Presentation. All of them consist of a first place award and an honorable mention. The awards will consist of a certificate and a monetary prize. To be eligible for the Student Paper awards, the awardee must (1) be the first author of the paper and (2) the paper must contain research which was conducted by the awardee as a student. The awardee does not need to be a currently enrolled student nor present the work. To be eligible for the Student Presentation award, the presentation given by the awardee must (1) be research which was conducted by the awardee as a student and (2) must be an author on the related paper, although can be in any author position. The awardee does not need to be a currently enrolled student, although should not have graduated more than one year prior to the conference. For more on how the best presentation will be selected will be provided soon. The awards will be announced during the conference and posted on the conference website.
Sponsors: The CFSRC Colloquium is still accepting sponsors which are committed to innovation in cold-formed steel structures. The participation of the sponsors is greatly appreciated. Financial support from the sponsors will allow the Colloquium price to remain low, and provide support for the student paper and presentation awards. Please contact cfsrc@jh.edu if you have interest in supporting the Colloquium.
The CFSRC Colloquium is already sponsored by: the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), Clark Dietrich, the Metal Building Manufacturers Association(MBMA), RSG Software, Run To Solve, the Steel Deck Institute, Unarco Material Handling, and Verco Decking.
Proceedings and Copyright: Proceedings of the colloquium will be posted online. CFSRC does not require a copyright transfer, so authors remain the copyright holders for their work. Proceedings are not registered in ISI or Scopus, but are provided in a format readily searchable by Google Scholar and other databases.
Continuing Education / PDH credits: CFSRC, which is chartered at Johns Hopkins University, will provide registered attendees with a certification of attendance. In many states in the U.S. this is sufficient for continuing education requirements; however, attendees are responsible for knowing the requirements of their own licensure.
Our attendees will be offered the opportunity to earn Personal Development Hours (PDHs). Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) will be facilitating the PDH credits.
