Stud bearing tests at UMass go global

Experimental testing for the AISI-funded project, Stud Bearing on Concrete Slabs, concluded this month at UMass Amherst. The final experiments involved “global height” assemblies, all designed to ensure a global buckling failure. With this data in hand researchers will now be able to determine the impact of bearing condition on axial capacity, and work with practitioners towards developing improved specifications.
